a. Did the Doctors take the right course of action after the accidental mutilation?
Hell no! They should have just left it mutilated and let it develop and then when he grew up he could have gotten skin graphs to get it fixed, of course at the expense of the doctors.
b. What other methods or actions could have been taken?
They could have just left it, like i stated in the previous question.
c. Who is to blame and how can this be avoided in the future.
The person who attempted to circumsise him is to blame for the botched circumsision, but the doctor that decided to remove the organ is to blame for the missing organ and the hormone pills.
d. Your overall thoughts and comments on this topic.
Just reading this topic makes me feel pain, and i cant even imagine how messed up his life was growing up with two or not even one sex.

ReplyDeleteStarting with question A, you're response was funny but in some weird way made sense. I feel as if we both feel that something should have been done through various years of surgery done by the Doctors. In a way, this same idea applies to question B. Regarding question C, I agree with you that the Doctors involved in the accident itself are to blame. However, I also feel that his parents should be taking some of the responsibility. Finally, regarding your overall opinion and thoughts, I agree with you that I feel some sort of pain and sorrow for David Reimer. Imagining such a horrific event happening to you is so painful that words can not even begin to explain.
I disagree I think that they shouldnt ahve left him like that and that thier choise was made out of panic and fear.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, they should have just left him alone and allowed it to develop as he gets older. I don't understand how the doctors can botch up a circumsision but thats maybe because I'm a girl and wouldn't know how that works.
