Video Tape Operator
Education/Knowledge: Although no specific educational or training qualifications are required for the role of VT Operators, Engineering or IT degrees are useful. Personality and communication skills are key at entry levels. Video Tape Operators must have an understanding of media formats, and should be familiar with the editing systems and graphics within each facility, be able to solve technical problems, and know the topology of the edit suites.
Average Annual Income: $7.42 - $11.13 Hourly
Basic Responsibilities: Promotes and coordinates technical knowledge harvesting within the organization. Defines, communicates and enforces coding standards.

Education: A college degree in English, communications, film or a related field is often an asset. Excellent computer and keyboard skills are also required.

Responsibilities: Since they are part of the production team they will be required to attend planning meetings as well as operate the teleprompter during the event or filming. Most teleprompter operators work flexible hours and may have to work long hours, evening and weekends to complete filming on schedule.

Training in film and television production is available through vocational school or college courses or through an apprenticeship. Film schools also provide classes on the artistic side of making motion pictures.
